Our Teens in Action Program is youth-led and youth-driven, guided by trained adults. Through our service-learning framework, teens learn to identify community needs, decide what issues they want to advocate for, then take action to make a difference in their communities.
The Goal of the Pack:
Our goal is to get a group of pre-teens and teens together to mentor one another, learn about each other, themselves and the world around them. To become savvy with the outdoors and also give back to the community in which we live. By meeting regularly our group will be able to work together, have pride in themselves, each other; and really learn how to give back. (*Each participant will receive signed community service hours, and letter of recommendation for jobs and higher learning.)
What will we do?
- Meet once a month for two hours. The first hour will be spent on a Leadership topic. The second hour will be spent on our Adventure Course or a skill set.
- Once a month we will volunteer our time; these can be as small as a beach cleanup, visiting Rady Children’s or a larger service project. Attendance is mandatory.
- Twice a year we will do two adventure treks: One small outing (Kayaking) and one large white water rafting/camping outing.
